Seven checks before you sign with a home builder
Abandoned work is every home-builder client's first fear. Here is how to cut the risk before you pay a baht.

The Home Builder Association advises buyers to check a builder before deciding. Here is that advice as a practical list.
1. Is it a real company?
Look up the name and registration number with the Department of Business Development; check the year and registered capital.
2. Payments tied to work
The first payment should be small; later ones follow finished, checked work. Be wary of large upfront demands.
3. Company account only
Every payment goes to an account in the company's name, with a receipt each time.
4. Visit real homes
Ask to visit finished homes or to speak with past owners.
5. Keep every document
Contract, quotes, receipts and progress photos are your evidence if anything goes wrong.
